#1 - Pre-Project Post!

It's finally here!  I'm coming up on my first few days of working with DOBAMA, and I couldn't be more excited!  As I roll into this project, I'm gonna talk a bit about why I'm doing it. I was inspired to do this as a project for a couple of reasons.  The main reason is that I am interested in the performing arts, and I live literally five minutes from DOBAMA, which makes this the most readily accessible venue for me to conduct a project.  I have been involved in theater since freshman year, and I have absolutely fallen in love with it.  Last year I got the opportunity to perform in the Connor Palace Theater with HPS for the Dazzle Awards, and it was by far one of the greatest experiences I have ever had.  For my project, I decided to put those two experiences together and work with a local professional theater, which I have never done before.  I am hoping that this project will help me learn two things: how the theater community on the professional le...

What did you learn while making your film? While making this film, I learned how to better and more interesting ways to frame my shots.  Before doing this film, I would occasionally get a few shots that I was proud of, but since this film forced me to focus on making interesting frames that told a story, I approached each shot with a much different lens (no pun intended).  As a result, I ended up producing a lot more shots that I was proud of. What did you learn from your critique? One thing that I think i really need to work on based on the critiques that I got was to have more variety in the types of shots that I use.  In the future, I will use this to work more towards ingraining more story elements into my cinematography. Something that apparently did work was how I managed to make the specific people in the story become the theme of the film, which in turn helped put the viewer in the perspective of one of the friends going on this cross-town "advent...
